The parts of an electric self winder for the clock have been acquired from Cumnor Church and Bob Dennis has fabricated a frame for it to work with the Risborough Clock. |

It works on the principle known as Huyghens' Endless Chain. A weight suspended from a loop of chain descends as the drum of the clock unwinds.
Near the end of its travel, the weight triggers a switch which starts an electric motor that winds the weight and the clock up. The weight is raised until it reaches a second switch which turns the motor off. The Self Winder is now in storage, with the clock, in the church tower. |
